The shortest named municipality is Ig, with an impressive two letters. And the prize for longest name goes to Sveta Trojica v Slovenskih goricah, with 30 letters. Some of the municipalities have names that are close enough that they could be confused: For example, there is a Ribnicaand a Ribnica na Pohorju. There is also a Cerkno and a Cerknica.
Plus, there is a Gorje, there is a Grad and there is a Gornji Grad.
However, for all these municipalities, there aren't so many cities. Only 16 cities and towns in Slovenia have more than 10,000 people. That means that there are nearly 20 times more municipalities than towns in Slovenia.
