There have been Slovenian islands, but not anymore. For example: the City of Izola. The Italian name of the city means Island, which is odd because it’s not an island. At least, not anymore. It was connected to the mainland with a bridge made of stone. Another example is Koper. The historiccenter was also on an island once. Then, in 1825, it also got connected to the mainland – and Slovenia lost another of its islands.
