In Hrpelje, the fifth protest of locals was held this month. Lives of inhabitants of the village along the Starod-Kozina road have become unbearable. "Not only noise, vibrations cause injuries. There are also emissions, although not everyone is even aware of it," said Zmago Dujc, a local from Hrpelje.
Hektor Šepič from Podgrad warned that they were afraid that "there would be a revolt. The situation is tense, it hasn't been as bad so far."
Therefore, local residents have already filed two legal damage claims against the state, and the citizens of the Koper municipality will also be called upon to help. The state should make sure that heavy truck traffic is reduced, and start searching for a solution to construction a motorway more actively. Arrangements for locating the best route have been dragging for decades. "It is sad that they did not manage to agree on the route. I do not know what would need to happen for the ministry to start thinking a bit differently," says Mayor of Hrpelje - Kozina Municipality Kozina Saša Svetelšek Likavec.
The Ministry of Infrastructure responds that due to environmental constraints the only suitable route for the motorway is the one from Jelšane to Postojna, and that they have already sped up the procedures. It will become clear soon if this is really the case.”
