If a Slovene leaves Slovenia, where do they go? Since 2000, the most common place (every year) has been Germany. The second favorite place is either Austria or Croatia, depending on the year. The number of Slovenes going to more exotic places, like Africa for example, has also been slowly rising… but is still small. Some countries have seen a little boom of Slovenes. Like Sweden. In 2008, there was a 100% increase in Slovenian immigrants. However, generally, Slovenes stay home. In the past ten years, less than 1% of the population has left the country.
