Slovenia has more judges per capita than any other country

Some people have complained about the slow pace of the judicial system. But did you know that Slovenia actually has more judges and magistrates per capita than almost any other country in the world? According to UN data, Slovenia has 0.44 judges and magistrates for every 1,000 people. That puts them in third place in the world – ahead of the United States and every other EU member country. Despite this, Slovenia lost a case in 2008 in the European Court of Human rights – it was fined 9,000 euros for its backlog of trials and for violating the right to a fair trial within a reasonable time.
