"Mission Eurovision has come true four years later, but that’s okay, it had to be this way. The victory couldn’t come at a better time. I’m more mature. I’ve done a lot of singing, and it has paid off," said Manuela Brečko immediately after winning EMA 2016.

Brečko is known to the Slovenian audience from 2012, when Slovenia selected its representative for Eurovision by organising a song competition called Misija Evrovizija (Mission Eurovision). Eva Boto won, and Brečko left the show in the semi-finals. The semi-final evenings of this year’s Eurovision will take place on 10th and 12th May while the grand finale will be on 14th May. The Slovenian representative ManuElla will perform in the second semi-final, on 12th May.
