Slovenian women leave the country at early age

When do Slovenes leave the country? The most common age for men to emigrate out of Slovenia is around 30. After that age, something interesting happens: less and less men leave the country. That’s not the case with Slovenian women. First of all, if they emigrate, they tend to leave the country at an earlier age: More Slovenian women in their 20s leave than men. But then something different happens. The trend is not less and less women leaving Slovenia, but a sudden jump for women in their late 50s. The trend stops and reverses: Suddenly, more women leave. 10% more Slovenian women emigrate out of the country in their late 50s than do so in their late 40s.
