What’s the difference between a monster and a dragon? Nothing, when it comes to the Ljubljana dragon. The famous dragon of Ljubljana, which guards the “dragon bridge” and adorns the city flag, may be connected with the ancient Greek myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece. According to the story, Jason stopped in Ljubljana’s swamps on the way back from his adventures and there killed a “monster.” Luckily for Ljubljana, this monster has since been described as a beautiful green dragon, instead of, say, a giant octopus creature. Instead, Ljubljana has a dragon bridge that is considered one of the most beautiful examples of the Art Noveau style in existence.
