Since independence, the Slovenian economy has been shifting away from manufacturing and towards services. Thousands of jobs in manufacturing have disappeared, especially in textiles, where more than 10,000 jobs disappeared in the run-up the economic crisis of 2008. The number of service jobs, however, has grown, by around 60,000.
