Following two bad falls by earlier competitors and a twenty minute interval Slovenia’s skier Tina Maze was not intimidated by the difficult piste conditions in Val d'Isere winning second place in the Women’s Downhill World Cup.

30-year-old Maze came in behind Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden from Switzerland. Cornelia Hütte of Austria won third place.
