Trail against Kraševec began

The trial against the former treasurer of the Maribor Archdiocese begins today. Mirko Krašovec is accused of helping embezzle 1.7 million euros in EU funds through false receipts. This was done during the renovation of the Betnava Mansion in Maribor. All four others defendants in the case have pleaded guilty. He is facing years in prison. Krašovec will be the only one to actually stand trial for the scheme, since others have already plead guilty and been sentenced.
