Like most of Europe, Slovenia is getting older. According to the OECD, in 2030, about 25% of people will be over the age of 65. This will make older, retired people much more common than teenagers and children, who will be only 13% of the population by then. However, the number of older people in Slovenia is expected to be more than in other European countries. The OECD believes that by 2050, about one in three people will be older than 65. In Europe, only Italy and the Czech Republic are expected have such a high share of elderly.
