The airport of Maribor is named after Rusjan

Just six years after the Wright brothers first took to the skies in the United States, Edvard Rusjan took off near Gorica in a biplane that he designed. On a promotional tour of his plane, however, his life was cut tragically short. While above Belgrade, one of the wings broke off, and Rusjan died at the age of just 24. The airport of Maribor (and an asteroid) are named in his honor.
