The Carniolan honey bee is gentle with people

If you think of animals that come from Slovenia, you may think of white Lipizzaner horses. But there is another animal that may be even more popular: the Carniolan honey bee. Among beekeepers, it’s second only to the Italian Bee. They are prized for being aggressive to pests but gentle with people, and are used to cold weather. In English, the beloved bees are even nicknamed “Carnies.”
