The University of Ljubljana is in one of Europe’s smallest capitals, but it’s still one of Europe’s largest universities. In fact, with 64,000 students, the University of Ljubljana is about twice as big as Berlin’s famous Humboldt University.
And it has three times as many students as Oxford University. The University has struggled throughout its history, and has changed its name often. During the kingdom of Yugoslavia, it was the King Alexander University in Ljubljana, and during communist Yugoslavia it was the Edvard Kardelj University. Now it’s the University of Ljubljana, and it’s one of Europe’s biggest.
