The first of six intercultural days - socializing events in which people get to know other foreign cultures - was held in Maribor last week. The purpose is to introduce locals to other cultures and people with a refugee status in Slovenia. Organized by the Youth Culture Centre, the Slovene Philanthropy and the Slovenian Migration Institute – part of the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the first intercultural event focused on Eritrea!

The 50 minutes between Ljubljana and Maribor campaign aims to cut travel time between Slovenia's two biggest cities to less than one hour. The ride on the 133 km journey currently takes between 2 and 3 hours, which the initiative says is unacceptable. The campaign was launched by a group of academics and daily commuters to Ljubljana.
