The 201.6 km race was won in a bunch sprint by Australia's Michael Matthews. It was his third win at the Grand Prix de Quebec, making him the most successful rider in the race's history.
Afterwards, Pogačar said that he was happy with the race and that his legs had felt good.
However, he added that he had made a mistake in the last kilometre, not knowing whether to attack or not. In the end, he was 'boxed in', in cycling terms, during the final sprint.
Despite not winning, the world no. 1 said that he was 'super happy to be back' and that he couldn't wait for Sunday's race in Montreal.
It's all part of his preparations for the upcoming World Championships in Zurich at the end of the month. Pogačar has made no secret of his desire to win gold in the men's road race, which takes place on 29th September.
