President Nataša Pirc Musar laid a wreath in Congress Square, Ljubljana, at the Monument to the Victims of All War and Victims Connected With Wars in Slovenia.

She said that she had recently visited the small village of Gora, where a monument to the victims of war and post-war massacres was erected 20 years ago.

She expressed her wish that the book on that chapter of history be closed once and for all.

The 1st of November is a national holiday in Slovenia and also a holiday in many countries around the world.

In the Christian calendar, it's known as All Saints' Day, the Feast of All Saint or, in olden times, All Hallows' Day.

The following day, November 2nd, is also celebrated by Christians and is known as All Souls' Day.
